One of our media class assignments was to visit some Tumblr photography sites and provide feedback about them. As I stated in a previous post, tumblrs have a twitter/blog feel to them. The first one that I visited was Samesies, since it was my first look at a tumblr I wasn't sure what to look for. I was unable to find the home button, actually didn't find any buttons at all. My next stop was at Awesome Photography, which is a lot more user friendly. I liked the clean layout. The size of the pictures and the way they are framed is nice. The “ask me” button seems to be an easily accessible useful tool. Cherry Bam, is too busy and distracting. It has too many colors and shapes. Terry Richardson has a very simple tumblr, I guess that’s what tumblr is about - it tends to take all of the drudgery out of a blog but still allows for advertising your photos and getting your name out there. A picture is worth a thousand words is a simple, straight and to the point tumblr. Definitely has the feel of twitter - not wordy at all but allows for large exposure of your pictures. I really like being able to display my work without having to always say a lot. Noah Kalina, this tumblr is following suit with all the others that I have viewed, straight and to the point. I think that I am going to favor tumblr over blogspot and wordpress due to the simplicity. I like the fact that you don’t need a complicated header, as you find on Bernstein & Andriulli's tumblr, also the buttons on the right are larger but out of the way. Images on all of the tumblrs so far are large enough to see with no problems.
