3 Images that show my strengths

This week we have to display 3 images which show our strengths to potential employees. I decided to show some of my photography skills and photoshop manipulation skills. That will help any employer see that I can shoot as well as edit. Below are the three images that I posted on my DB. The first is an image that I shot. I then intertwined the little girl into the first letter of her name for a book cover that I did for her. I shot and then composited different images of the basketball player into one image. The last image is a before and after of a family portrait which needed to be restored. I didn't shoot this image but I did restore it. Potential employers would be able to see that I have the ability to restore images which may need to be used in any particular design.

Rosa Parks Poster

In this week's IP I had to create a poster that presented Rosa Parks in 1955. It had to speak to a young audience in today's world. The poster is a call out to young adults asking where they stand today? What are they willing to give up for this cause in 2014? I started out with the one on the top which had too much info to make an immediate impact on the target audience. I diminished most of the elements which hopefully will get the point to the viewer quickly and leave an indelible mark on his/her brain.

This week's Discussion Board

This week our DB was to investigate an article to see if we could figure out the following: what typeface was used; the size; and leading, what type of grid was employed; how many columns and gutters if they were used. This was a difficult one for me. I never did discover what typeface and sizes were used. I believe I got the columns and gutter size. At any rate, I'm posting the original and my rendition below.

This week's assignment was a discussion on contemporary text.

We had to discuss how graphic design applications like Photoshop and Illustrator have emboldened and empowered what you can do with type. The class was directed to look online for a tutorial on how to do something fun with type, take the tutorial and then share the instructions and our results with the class. I decided to duplicate the "Elegant Glossy Gold Text Effect". The instructions will be found here: http://textuts.com/elegant-glossy-gold-text-effect/. I have attached the original from the site and my rendition. I had a few issues with my rendition, i.e. I didn't get the shiny effect, and I was unable to execute step 7 which may be why it's not shiny. I'm going to have to revisit this project. I had to stop so that I could work on my other assignments. I have also solicited help from my classmates.
